You should get your piano tuned at LEAST once a year: most manufacturers recommend tuning twice a year. Regular tuning helps maintain stability, mitigate the risk of physical damage to the piano including strings breaking, and the soundboard losing its shape. Plus, you need to stop using “the piano is out of tune” as an excuse for those wrong notes!

Repair and Regulation

There are approximately 35 moving parts on each note on your piano, many of them are pieces of wood topped with varying thicknesses of felt. Over time, the felt becomes compressed and the wood may swell or shrink. This results in the keys not working as efficiently as possible and detracts from the musician’s ability to add expression to the music. The piano’s keys may feel uneven or sluggish, or might make clicking or rubbing sounds. Regulation adjusts all the moving parts to work better than “new” so that your music can be expressive as possible. Regular service of this kind keeps high-use and high-end pianos working at maximum efficiency.

Cleaning

Your piano has probably been around for a while, many are between 50 and 100 years old, and it’s probably been moved or transferred ownership many times.
